Difficult industry to make any headway in.

    In what way?

Mining coal is not in the top ten in leading occupational hazards. Being 20 years in the trucking industry, more professional drivers are killed than miners each year, but you never hear much about them as not making any headway. Coal still makes steel and energy. And always will in some form.

That’s probably because there are not many miners left. A change in the market, new forms of energy and starting to mine the powder river basin has significantly dropped the number of coal mining jobs in Appalachia.
