Early WVU Offer For P\K Hunter Pearson
By: Kevin Kinder
Specialist Hunter Pearson wasn’t expecting an offer from West Virginia, mostly because the Mountaineers hadn’t been beating down his door.
“I was surprised [when they offered], since I haven’t been in contact with WVU too much prior to the offer,” he told BlueGoldNews.com.
With an offer from Virginia already in hand, Pearson now has both parts of the former single state covered, as the Mountaineers made their offer on Wednesday. A double-duty performer as both a punter and a kicker, Pearson is rated as the #3 ranked placekicker and the #27 punter nationally by presitgious Kohl’s kicking — the premier development camp and service for specialists in the nation.
“I do both for my high school, but I am definitely a better kicker than a punter,” Pearson said in agreement with the ranking. Still, his video shows a ball that flies off his foot in both types of work — skills that will likely attract more offers for him in the future.
WVU currently has senior Mike Molina and redshirt freshmen Evan Staley and Jonn Young on the roster.
