Kansas Battles Past West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – In a game eerily similar to the previous meeting between West Virginia and Kansas, the No. 3 Jayhawks overcame a WVU lead and pulled out a 58-49 victory Wednesday night at the WVU Coliseum.

With the loss the No. 14 Mountaineers fell to 18-6 on the season and 6-5 in the Big 12 Conference. Meanwhile KU is now 21-3 overall and 10-1 in the league.

The Mountaineers held a 30-24 lead at halftime, which was the exact same score as when the two teams played last month in Lawrence. KU won that one 60-53 as West Virginia was 7 of 25 from the field and 0 of 4 from three-point range that day at Allen Fieldhouse.

Just like on Jan. 4, Kansas used a second half run to secure the victory, as WVU’s offense over the final 20 minutes went almost silent. It was West Virginia’s lowest point total of the season. The second lowest was the 53 it scored in the loss at KU.

More disappointed than I have been all year.  That was winnable game.  No one to go to when they needed to score.  Still don’t get why Miles went out of game when he did.  Freshman, I know, but he is their scorer.  Took him out at critical juncture.  He came back too late.

Culver made a bucket at 9:09. Gabe made the next and last at 5:59. Haley FT at 5:07 … 5 pts in 9 mins. TOTAL BREAKDOWN.

This is a young team still growing… don’t forget how far they’ve come from last year.  I believe they will peak late and be ready for a sweet 16 run.  Huggs will get them there…. have faith

I didn’t watch or listen to the game.  Did they stand around on offense and watch the guy who had the ball?  It’s almost like 5 guys defending, 4 watching, and one guy dribbling every time we have the ball.  Seems to always be the case when we get our clocks cleaned…..
