It will be interesting to see if we offer any other Martinsburg players.

Do you have any thoughts on that? Sense an opinion there!

I live in Winchester Va. and am familiar with that program. No real opinion other than there is a lot of good players in the Eastern Panhandle and in the northern Shenandoah Valley. It wouldn’t hurt to ramp up recruiting in that area.

Love that speed and attitude. Sounds like a winner. I’m sure he will be rated highly nationally by end of h.s. career, so there will be a lot of competition for him.

Love Grantham. I see him more as a kyzir white position but doesn’t matter but yes I have an opinion!!! Lol why haven’t we offered Tavis Lee?!?!?! Dudes a beast.  Hope he’s not just an option if Stills doesn’t committ. We’ll end up waiting to damn long.

I agree that Grantham would seem built to be a spur, but as coaches always say, take the best athlete/football player possible and then let their body dictate ultimately what position they play.

As for Tavis Lee, he is a outstanding high school player, but I get the feeling that college coaches believe he is an undersized (listed at 6-3, 215 lbs.) defensive end  who may have trouble converting to another position and probably can’t get big enough to be a college defensive end. Just reporting what I’m told.

Thank you for answering and I figured it was his weight but hell are they letting Marvin Gross inability to ever gain weight scare them off?  We just got a juco DE, they say linebacker, but he’s only 6′ 210? And will be used just to rush the passer?  The best DE to play her recently is Irvin? He was what 245lb. I know he’s not Bruce Irvin lol but still. Junius Lewis prolly the best four year guy. It sucks that this is going to be a small class. If we had 30 scholarships I think Lee is a no doubter.  And if he moves to LB he couldn’t be any worse than Preston. I’m starting a conspiracy that it is because he knocked the sh!t out of Holgs boy lol. Thanks for answering. Is the rumor that Owen Porter wanted to commit and we told him no have any truth to it? Thanks again.

That’s the tough part of recruiting, trying to predict where a kid will be physically at 21 in comparison to 17 or 18. Coaches have to make those decisions, but they’ll all tell you it’s an educated guess, sometimes they are right and sometimes they are wrong.

As for Owen Porter, I’m not sure what the Mountaineers thought of him, but maybe the fact he committed to Marshall earlier this week tells us he didn’t feel a WVU offer was coming, if that’s what he was waiting on.

Thanks for the insight on Lee I watched nearly all Martinsburgs games and he is a talent along with Grantham and another lineman Jalen Hesen.

Yes thank you a lot for the Tavis Lee info. I couldn’t get a word from anyone and obviously they like the kid cause he’s up there a good bit. One question on Owen Porter, didn’t he already have an offer since like last October? That was definitely reported and showed on 247 sports that he had been offered?  I know these offers aren’t in stone but just wondering. Thanks. Still rooting for the Tavis. Someone pulled a pic of his twitter after the camp and it said “gotta work on getting bigger now”, obviously no idea if that refers to wvu but hope so. I appreciate it.

Porter didn’t have an offer from WVU.
