We’re (tied for) No. 37! The Mountaineers received one vote in the final AP football poll … this from Garland Gillen of WVUE (how are those for call letters!) in New Orleans.

Marshall also received a 25th-place vote from a writer in Wisconsin.

The coaches no longer do a post-bowl poll, but USA Today put WVU No. 34 on its final ranking of all 127 FBS teams — a jump of 12 spots from the end of the regular season and good for fifth place among Big XII teams. Oklahoma was No. 6, ISU No. 10, Okie State No. 18, and Texas No. 23. Army was ranked 25th.

A decent year IMO.  We were lucky to have any kind of a season at all, and coach Brown and his staff did an outstanding job of keeping things going in the right direction!  We could also be facing the same circumstances next season – I hope not but who knows???

We still have a long way to go, they have to address the issue of drops. A serviceable QB is only really effective if people can catch the ball routinely.

Is Crowder enrolling this Semester or waiting till later? The kid has a big arm.

The gap between WVU and the elite teams is depressing. Hell, the gap between WVU and. Texas/Oklahoma is depressing.

The gap between Texas/Oklahoma and the elite teams such as Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, and a good chunk of the SEC is depressing.

Oh to dream.   First step is to be in the top 1/4 of the B12 every year. We just aren’t there yet.
