Five members of the No. 17 West Virginia University baseball team have been named to the 2019 Academic All-Big 12 Baseball Team, the conference announced on Tuesday.

Senior right fielder Darius Hill (management), redshirt junior left fielder T.J. Lake (sport management), redshirt junior right-handed pitcher Dillion Meadows (agribusiness management) and junior left-handed pitcher Nick Snyder (sport management) were named to the first team, while redshirt senior left-handed pitcher Zach Reid (business administration) was recognized on the second team.

Hill is being honored for the third consecutive season, including his second straight year on the first team. Meadows, Snyder and Reid were all selected to the squad for the first time in their careers.

First-team members consist of those who have maintained a grade point average of 3.20 or better, while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team’s scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation also are eligible.

Following Tuesday’s Backyard Brawl contest against Pitt at PNC Park, the Mountaineers conclude the regular season at home against George Washington from May 16-18, at Monongalia County Ballpark. The series begins on Thursday, May 16, at 6:30 p.m. ET, and continues on Friday, May 17, at 6:30 p.m. The regular-season finale is slated for Saturday, May 18, at 2 p.m.

Tickets are available at WVUGAME.com, by calling 1-800-WVU GAME, during the week at the Mountaineer Ticket Office at the WVU Coliseum or on game day at Monongalia County Ballpark. Thursday and Friday’s contests will feature Baseball Bingo, and Friday is the final Friday Night Happy Hour of the year, with half-off beverages available from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Along with Senior Day festivities, Saturday also is Armed Forces Day, with all active and retired military members receiving a discounted $3 ticket by showing a valid military I.D. Additionally, there will be postgame autographs and kids can run the bases after the game.
