Ready to go on a very cold Saturday morning in Youngstown. Jordan McCabe is already out on the court at the Covelli Centre. IT’s definitely a venue made for hockey, but the basketball court fits quite nicely. Somewhat darker than most venues – that can affect some shooters.

Travel mishap – gas pump latch got caught open, dousing my shoes with fuel. Not a propitious start to the day. Obeying all open flame warnings.

Wifi in the Cvelli Centre is, shall we say, a bit overwhelmed already. We’ll do our best to work with it through the game

Thirty minutes til #WVU – YSU tip. Getting the lay of the land for our postgame – Huggins and player interviews are on opposite ends of the arena, so I have my running shoes on.

A couple of players will be leaving directly from here to go home for Christmas break, so that may affect postgame availability.

Derek Culver and Oscar Twhiebwe, each of whom spent their high school years within a half hour of Youngstown, have a nice contingent of fans in the crowd.

Mountaineers lead 14-12 at the first media break. Tshiebwe will be headed to the foul like to try to complete and and-1.

The Covelli Centre is a nice arena, but YSU has to be disappointed with the crowd as the 5,900-seat building is about half full.

WVU leads 15-14 with 12:24 left in the first half.

Culver and Tshiebwe have 7 and 5 points respectively, as WVU lead 18-14 with 11:46 remaining in the first half.

Taz Shereman with WVU’s last five points, but the Mountaineers giving up open shots on the other end. Score tied 25-25.
