After being named to the 2019 Cancun Challenge All-Tournament Team, redshirt junior guard Kysre Gondrezick of the West Virginia University women’s basketball team has been named the WVU Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by University Apartments.
Over two contests in Cancun, the Benton Harbor, Michigan, native averaged 14.5 points, 2.5 assists, 6.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals. Gondrezick also shot 6-of-13 (46.2%) from three-point range and was 5-of-6 (83.3%) from the free-throw line over the two contests.
In WVU’s win over New Mexico, Gondrezick posted her sixth consecutive double-figure scoring performance, leading the Mountaineers with 17 points. Gondrezick also shot 6-of-12 (50.0%) from the field, including 3-of-5 (60.0%) from behind the arc, against the Lobos and tallied a career-high seven rebounds.
Through six games this season, Gondrezick leads the Mountaineers in scoring, averaging 19.2 points per game. The redshirt junior is shooting 47.7 percent from the field, including 50.0 percent from three-point range, and 86.7 percent from the free-throw line.
