Run game starts up front. The big boys need to be as good in the run as they are in passing downs. It’s all leverage and angles to get our RB’s past the line and into the second level. It’s not all brute strength. That comes on the mano a mano battles inside the 5 or 4th and 1 situations. 3.9 yds/rush won’t get us very far.
3 man front allows for disguising who is rushing. I’m ok with 3 man front as long as only a 3 man rush is used sparingly. Though, last year taking foot off the blitz and leaving more back in coverage turned the tide and won the game for the Mountaineers against the Red Raiders.
