So many things hurt the team from the start of the year, as we’ve detailed. Tucker and Bergert out for the year, Tyler Strechay and Tyler Doanes out for long stretches with injuries, COVID absences in the double figures early in the year, a shutdown and loss of games for a stretch. Not to mention the injury to Weston Mazey – that had to have a big emotional effect on everyone.

Then, some vets not performing as well as they had in past seasons.

Really felt like WVU has struggled with its identity this year. Haven’t gotten the running\bunting game going as has been the signature, and when they went for the long ball approach with big swingers in the lineup, they didn’t produce the hoped-for power game.
