Texas Tech, the only Big 12 team in the College World Series, overcame a 3-0 deficit today, went ahead 4-3, was tied in the top of 8th at 4-4, went ahead in the bottom of the 8th, 5-4, then held on in a tense 9th to beat Arkansas, 5-4.
Arkansas had runners on first and second with nobody out, but 2 Tech relievers got 3 outs to save the victory.
Tech next meets the Michigan-Florida State loser. Michigan beat Tech in the first game of the CWS.
WVU beat Texas Tech 2 of 3 games in April.

After beating Oklahoma in its Big 12 opener, WVU beat #2 seed Texas Tech, then lost to Kansas, which lost to Iowa State in the title game.
Texas Tech won the regular season. WVU was 4th. Texas was last.
The more Texas Tech advances in the College World Series, the better it looks for WVU’s resume. The Mountaineers beat the Red Raiders 5 times in 7 games this season.
There is a little reflected glow there, but of course we’d all like to see WVU get there at some point.
Texas Tech was the preseason pick to win the Big 12, so not a huge surprise they ended up advancing further than any league team. WVU did a good job pitching against the Red Raiders, as it did for most of the year. Massive losses to replace there next year.
