Very interesting that we would take a commit from a JR that isn’t playing this year. So his FR & SO years were that good that we couldn’t wait to get more tape on him? Must be or Huggs wouldn’t have offered. Very high 3* on all sites. Should be rated higher once he starts playing again.

Kevin ….. What does this mean for Maceo? In ’19 we will already have at least 6 G’s
    SR . Bolden
    SR . Harler
    SO . Knapper
    SO . McCabe
    SO . Doomes
    FR . McBride

AND …. are we done with the ’18 class? Prolly not.

With the offer to JC guard DeVontae Bandoo does this mean that two or more on the roster will not be coming back next season? If so, who do you think will not be back at the start of the 2018-19 season?

WVU has a full scholarship complement of 13 right now, and two seniors on the squad (Jevon Carter and Daxter Miles). And the Mountaineers have already signed four prospects for next year, meaning they are already two scholarships over the limit. Thus if all four signees make it in, two current underclassmen will not return. And if Huggins adds yet another scholarship player to this class, like DeVontae Bandoo, then that’s an addition player on this year’s roster who won’t be back next year.

Started to guess at who is going to be out, but seemed a little too vulture like. Will wait and see.

From the beginning it was Routt not taking a spot next year. Going back to walk on? Will NCAA allow a schollie player go to walk on to free up a spot? That has yet to be determined. And I know, I know, I know, the all knowing posters on other boards say it is so. But I have yet to hear from Huggs or his staff or see it in writing that it can be done.

Now, that leaves 1 more at this time. Odds are that Hunter will look elsewhere. His non existent playing time seems to dictate that he is the last on the bench and will either fall off or run to another program. But….. there are many, many other options out there. Some of our doing, some not.

We will just have to wait and see.

Scholarships can be either one year or guaranteed for four years. I am sure that Routt’s, like most of WVU’s is of the one year variety. So yes, he could go back to non-scholarship status. The NCAA does not prevent that.

I don’t like to name players who might be candidates to leave, but I think reasonable estimations can be made based on playing time, etc.

Maybe it’s just me, but I wouldn’t be ready to cut Hunter loose just yet. If other players at his position would leave, and he gets better at running offense, he could contribute next year.

Also, given history, I would not count Culver in until he is admitted and on campus.

I would say that puts a hold on any further guard offers or accepting of commitments unless something changes at guard.

Coaches really like McBride. He has really good moves, and is a tough and dedicated defender.
