Welcome Coach Flynn. Edinboro was always a good match to go see. Will definitely be able to get us to take the next step.

This is good from a recruiting and area name recognition factor, too.

Just like FB, Western PA used to be a great Wrestling hot bed. I don’t know if it still is. But Edinboro has had tremendous success under Flynn. Great coaches seem to be able to recruit no matter where they end up.

It’s still the top area in the east. The midwest is the strongest now, but if WVU can get top talent out of PA it can be competitive in the Big 12 and nationally, as it was for a number of years under Turnbull.

Having those ties for recruiting is really important, IMO. Agreed that having the talent to recruit is essential, but if you know the area and have coached in the area, that’s a big leg up.

For example, JuJuan Seider in Florida. Could he recruit anywhere? Yes. But he’s most effective in Florida, where he has built those relationships, knows the programs, sees guys on the way up, etc. That takes time to build. Flynn has that base in PA.
