Without knowing all the options, discussions and
possible negotiations that went on between the
schools it’s not possible to make that decision.
Could it have been played later rather than
having it canceled? We will never know!
One thing we an assume is that neither
school was desperate to play this game!
    Or maybe just one was!

I don’t think that’s a fair statement. They were “desperate” to find a solution that would work for both teams. There just wasn’t any.

WVU would have been subjected to TWO games in FIVE dayas. The open date set up by the Big 12 schedulers avoided that. Plunking North Carolina State into the mix would have put WVU players in jeopardy.

The CFP committee will NOT penalize WVU for not having a 12th talking point because of Mother Nature! If WVU goes undefeated and probably beats Oklahoma twice in 7 days then WVU WILL be in the national playoffs. And Grier still can win the Heisman if his PER-GAME stats are better than the PER-GAME stats of other QBs who play 12 games.

If WVU makes the title game, then there will be 12 game stats and video replays to look at.

Most importantly, let’s hope no one in the Carolinas or Virginia dies in Hurricane Florence. WVU and North Carolina State football players and coaches will survive. Let’s hope the folks on the ground in those states do, too. Priorities.

I think the correct decision was made. The resources needed to conduct a football game is a lot of people, to include EMS, police and so many more. Those resources shouldn’t be pulled away from hurricane responsibilities period. Also, not sure we want our team and fans in harms way and also the same for NC State. It is a game… Prayers for all in Hurricane Florence’s path!

It was the right decision to not play the game in NC. I believe that it will hurt WVU in the final standings and bowl picks by not having a 12th game. 2 OOC W’s over P5 teams is something that not many teams in the country can tout.

There are many other stadiums not in the hurricane path that could have been uses. Yes, maybe the fans would be inconvenienced, but the fans are more inconvenienced by cancelling the game completely. It may have cost a little more to secure another site, but one could have been secured.

Lincoln Financial Field in Philly is open that weekend. Neither Temple or Eagles play at home on this weekend. Temple at Maryland. Eagles at Tampa Bay.
