Was hoping that he had bought into
Huggs and his system. O’well.
Potential is there but he has to be willing to fit in a team concept. He has decided not to do that at WV. Hope he understands he needs to do it somewhere. Teddy free wheeling isn’t going to get him very far.
Best wishes to him. Hope he succeeds.
Hope he could adapt to a SG. Adding Haley overed him up at both. Matthews would also. Playing time would be cut.
Good luck to him.
I hate to see him go. Yes, there were problems with the coaches, but he was WVU’s best interior scorer outside of Sags. WVU just doesn’t have that on the roster right now, pending what the incoming guys can do.
Granted, team chemistry and buying in is very important, and it can’t be sacrificed just to keep a guy. But this is a loss that could really hurt. WVU loses 3-4 more games last year without him on the roster.
He had a lot of potential. Only problem was he thought he had arrived and was the new Chris Paul. Teddy never met a shot he didn’t like and rarely passed the ball. Team was not a concept he understood.
Pitt is still looking for players. I believe they have 9 open schollies.
So is Haley a guy that can drive and score? Will a light come on for Ahmad? Can Culver score? Will one of the new point guards be able to drive and dish? I agree Allen provided a spark that won some games early in the year.
Yes he did. He provided some spark on O in a few games where he drove the lane. He didn’t see a shot that he didn’t like. But he didn’t play within Huggs game. D got better, but was far from good. Too slow to guard 2G’s. Couldn’t hang with SF’s that created their own shot. Doesn’t matter how good you are on O all by yourself, if you don’t play the team game it disrupts the flow. Trae anyone?
