gave up a lot of yards against Texas, as did the Longhorn defense because both QBs were spectacular.

By the 4th down stop inches short of the 4-yard line when the Texas QB’s helmet came off was HUGE. If the Longhorns have first down on the 4, a TD was almost inevitable.

Instead, WVU got the ball back.

And, the stop on 3rd and short in the 4th quarter forced Texas to go for a field goal. In a game decided by 1 point you need to look at more than yardage and points given up, like critical stops, tackles and knockdowns. That’s why I don’t know how ANY panel can rank teams without looking at every minute of every game played that week by the top 25 teams, which they don’t. There is so much that looking at stats or video clips does not tell you.

I’m still watching my recording of the game, to get ramped up for the TCU game.

Awesome stop of an outstanding running QB!

Ellingher (sp?) is good, no doubt. Whiny and particular about hand signals, but definitely good.

2 of the best 3 QBs in the Big 12, which is a QB conference, in that game.

That’s why the Big 12 teams’ defensive stats aren’t fair when compared to other conferences where they run more, or non-Power 5 teams where the competition is not nearly as tough.

There’s just more to it than the numbers. Unless every team plays the same team, comparisons are so subjective that they become almost meaningless.
