Of the four teams who will be vying for their respective conference championships in Sunday’s two NFL playoff games, only one of those features former Mountaineers who will be participating in the action on the field. New England, Jacksonville and Minnesota don’t contain any former WVU players on their active rosters, though Jarrod Harper, who is was a safety for West Virginia, from 2012-16 is on the injured reserve with the Jaguars, and Darrell Hazell, who as a running back coach at WVU from 1999-2000, is in his first season as the wide receiver coach with the Vikings.
But Philadelphia is loaded with former Mountaineers, as linebacker Najee Goode, running back Wendell Smallwood, cornerback Rasul Douglas and wide receiver Shelton Gibson all have spent the season with the Eagles. None are starters, but all have been contributors, led by Goode, who is in his sixth year in the NFL and has recorded 23 tackles so far this season.
