No way we get in without a conference title. Just not a good enough overall record or finish in the conference to think otherwise. Way too often this year pitchers couldn’t find the zone and gave up too many free bases.
For my money, didn’t think we were aggressive enough at the plate. Batters take a lot of pitches. Don’t know if it is an approach that coach likes, but it seems we seldom swing until the first strike is thrown. Yesterday, we actually had more swings at the first strike, than we had all year and that was only around 4 or 5.
Finishing 7th in the B12 (only 9 teams, ISU doesn’t field Baseball) with a 9-15 conference and 27-25 overall is quite a disappointment. Beginning of the year we thought we’d do much better. Last year’s springboard for this program didn’t have much spring.
