West Virginia University junior forward Lauren Segalla will miss the remainder of the 2019 season after tearing the ACL in her left knee in the women’s soccer team’s 1-1 (2 OT) draw against Penn State on Sept. 6.

A native of Salisbury, Connecticut, Segalla has started all five matches this season. She has registered 20 career points (eight goals, four assists) in 45 career games for the Mountaineers.

Tough loss on an already young team.  They need what upperclassmen experience that is on the roster and to lose one that is a significant contributor is a bad hit.

Definitely hurts, and WVU is still trying to adjust to the loss of three excellent senior defenders from last year’s team, who really controlled the back and and allowed only limited offensive chances.
