After earning two wins over ranked Big 12 foes last week, redshirt sophomore Noah Adams of the West Virginia University wrestling team has been named the WVU Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by University Apartments.
The Coal City, West Virginia, native, extended his winning streak to 24 matches after earning a pair of wins over ranked Big 12 foes last week. Adams began the week with a big win over No. 10/8/14 Dakota Greer of Oklahoma State. He needed just 1:07 to secure the pin to give WVU its first win of the match.
He wrapped up the week by earning his eighth win over a ranked opponent of the season on Sunday, with a 6-1 decision over No. 13/11/17 Jake Woodley of Oklahoma.
After Woodley earned an escape to begin the second period, Adams took the lead in the second with a takedown. He added four more points in the third with an escape, a takedown and a riding time point to earn the 6-1 win.
With the win, Adams improved his record to 24-0 on the season and 11-0 in dual matches. He is 3-0 against Big 12 competitors in duals in the campaign, with all three wins coming over a ranked opponent.
For his performance, Adams also was named the Big 12 Wrestler of the Week on Tuesday. Adams is the first repeat honoree of the season as he claimed the honor on Dec. 31.
