Senior gymnast Kirah Koshinski earned five podium finishes this week and has been named WVU’s Student-Athlete of Week, presented by University Apartments.
The Berwick, Pennsylvania, native scored 9.925 on vault at No. 21 Arizona State on March 13 and in the Mountaineers’ home season finale at the WVU Coliseum on March 17 for the outright victories. She also tied for the floor win on Wednesday and won it outright Sunday with 9.9 scores. Additionally, Koshinski scored 9.85 on balance beam in Tempe, Arizona, and finished a team-best third overall. She placed 12th on beam Sunday with a 9.8.
By week’s end, Koshinski set the Mountaineer program record for career vault scores of 9.9 or better (25) and career floor scores of 9.9 or better (22).
The Mountaineers finished third at ASU with a 195.75 showing and swept their home season finale with a season-best 196.425 score. Included in WVU’s score on Sunday was a season-high 49.3 on beam, a program record inside the WVU Coliseum that matched the second-best score in school history.
