You do not win that many games without being good. It was easy to see the loving side of Huggs when he comforted Butler after his inhjury in the final fourJanuary 22, 2020 at 12:56 pm in reply to: ‘Fake Starter’? Fighting Words To WVU’s Jordan McCabe #109438
Start with the obvious, the team is 15-3 so no player is dragging the team down.
McCabe, as a leader, adds things that go beyond the stats. He has the talent to improve the stats.
Certainly there are valid criticisms of his play but it is clear he works hard and adds to the team.
They played a total team game last night. Easier to win when you do that. Tshiebwe’s play was cap on the night.
Not sure anyone knows why a team comes out flat in game but that seems to be a constant this season with many teams. Just hope they are more ready Monday against Texas.
I take the DC to NYC part of that trip regularly. Thanks sharing the parts of the trip I have not taken.
Nice to see them dominate a game pretty much from start to finish.
Phog is a tough play for a visiting team win out. Still, WVU free throw shooting is mystery. I never played at their level so I’m sure the pressure is different but I could drain free throws. Shooting them is basically form and repetition
The team started getting better last season after dumping Ahmad and Harris but they lacked depth. The most promising thing from the Ohio State game was they beat a good team with so little production for the starting 5. That takes adjustment, which comes from coaching and players responding to the coaching.
Looks like Tech and WVU have the top newcomers.
The backboard is there for reason and the reason and a good bank shot is great weapon. I think the dunk has hurt the bank shot. I was taught to use the backboard on layups.
WVU had not been a top shooting team for a decade. Shooters can’t think about the shot. Good shooting is reaction and form.
So many games a play or two might have won this season. Season also shows how wrong we can be. Going into the season I thought the running game would be the strength of the offense since everyone was back. McCoy was averaging over 5 yards per carry. Never dreamed they could have such a bad season.November 21, 2019 at 3:56 pm in reply to: Pace Will Ramp Up Vs. Oklahoma State For Jeffery Pooler, Mountaineer Defense #104518
Wonder if having quarterback Spencer Sanders out for the game will affect their tempo?
Seniors go, freshmen come in along with some transfers. Losing a lot in the defense backfield but alot of younger players got good experience.
When I first saw James in the opening game I was impressed by his talent. He has the ability to be one of the great WVU receivers before he is done.November 12, 2019 at 8:55 pm in reply to: Playing Time Decisions For QBs Of WVU Football, Basketball #103548
McBride did not play like typical freshman. Sometimes talent outweighs experience. Also, McCabe does not have much experience either. He did not play a lot early last season.
Difficult to beat anyone with so many mistakes.November 9, 2019 at 8:40 pm in reply to: McBride, Haley Help WVU Past Akron For Season-Opening Win #103340
Always good to get that first win. Akron is not a cupcake but WVU let them get back into the game several times. Hopefully they will improve from game to game .
No team wins without a good point guard. JD Collins was not much of a scorer but he ran the point very well on successful teams.
The defense helped the offense but the offense did not take advantage of the help. Only the defense did not do was score but an offense has to put up more than 7 points.
