The 2007 loss to Pitt is likely to long remain the worst loss in WVU sports history, impossible to explain. The 1968-59 basketball loss in the championship game to Cal. was not as bad because Cal was a very good team. Nice look back at history
Doubt he will go NBA, has not shown enough to be draft pick. Europe another matter but not hiring an agent shows he he has not decided to leave yet.March 26, 2018 at 8:25 pm in reply to: Delving Deeper Into “Open Shots” Explains WVU Loss #56563
The loss to kansas in the Big 12 championship game and the Sweet Sixteen loss to Villanova were basically the same game, keep it close the first 30 minutes then stop making shots toward the end of the game. WVU has several teams shoot better at threes against them than they shoot normally which tells me there is something lacking in the defense.March 25, 2018 at 5:55 pm in reply to: Roles Reversed In WVU Postgame As Role Players Pay Respects #56527
Carter and Miles had excellent careers. May be the best guard duo in WVU history , at least close to it.
Defense and rebounding sets up the offense. WVU has to be at their best tonight.March 20, 2018 at 8:09 pm in reply to: Teamwide Effort, Performance Making Teddy Allen And WVU A Difficult Out #56043
Basketball is team game and with only 5 players in action the importance of each is higher than most sports.
NCAA scheduling is a mess. East region teams playing on the west coat. Two teams based in the east tipping off at almost 10 pm in the east. There has to be a better way to schedule the teams.
As we have seen this season anything can happen but I see WVU as the better, deeper, and stringer team. If WVU plays at their best this should not be close game.March 17, 2018 at 3:37 pm in reply to: Hard Work, Hustle Paying Postseason Dividends For Routt #55607
Logan may be on his way to being another big do everything needed inside player like Thoroughman, Noreeen, and Adrian.March 14, 2018 at 6:42 pm in reply to: WVU Must Slow Racers’ Offensive Roll, Find A Third Scorer Itself #55172
At this [point in the season focusing on the tournaments and the next game are pretty much the same because they know the scenarios. Evey win helps and every loss hurts, much more than a win or loss in December. In December there are plenty of games left to make up for a loss.
8:50 far too early to burn clock. That early you run the offense that got you the 10 point lead.February 13, 2018 at 6:18 pm in reply to: Scouting Report Provides Punch As West Virginia Tops TCU #51554
Allen has such a nice shooting touch he should be able to score in multiple ways. Go to rim when it is available and pull up for a jumper when you do not have a clear lane to the rim. As Allen said, “I wasn’t taking what the defense was giving me. ” Game is a lot easier when you take what the defense gives.February 13, 2018 at 6:10 pm in reply to: Press, Halfcourt Defense Beginning To Mesh For Mountaineers #51553
Impressive they built the lead while Carter was sitting. Allen developing into a great offense player, nice touch with ball.
Nice to see Harris and Allen getting better. Miles has run hot and cold through his first 3 years, would be great for the team if he runs hot the rest of the season. Carter may have off game shooting but never an off game in effort. Team should get better as the season goes along.November 25, 2017 at 1:14 pm in reply to: Mountaineers Reach Advocare Championship with Wipeout of UCF #38542
WVU is two teams in one–the team that played Friday looked totally different than the team that played yesterday. UCF probably is better than Marist, just played vastly different WVU teams.November 21, 2017 at 7:11 pm in reply to: Konate, Harler Provide Offensive Spark As WVU Bests Long Beach State #38217
The more players who can score the better the offense will be. Defenses can’t concentrate on one or two players.November 2, 2017 at 8:49 pm in reply to: Expectations, Third Downs And A Pregame Mistake For WVU #34235
Getting pretty bad when can’t even get the coin toss right, good the officials explained the situation. I never played football but I know you either take the ball or defer.
