Best Virginia has finalized its roster for the 2022 edition of The Basketball Tournament with the addition of three players and an assistant coach. TBT begins play on July 16 with a prize of $1 million for the winning team. Best Virginia will play in the West Virginia Regional at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center, which gets underway on July 24.
Best Virginia rounded out its 10-man roster on Tuesday evening, adding former Mountaineers Jermaine Haley and D’Angelo Hunter, along with Ohio State alumnus Kaleb Wesson, to its roster. That gives the team a 10-man group upon which to call.
Best Virginia 2022 Roster
2 Devin Ebanks 6-9
41 John Flowers 6-8
10 Jermaine Haley 6-7
1 D’Angelo Hunter 6-7
21 Kevin Jones 6-8
15 Tanner McGrew 6-8
4 Jamel Morris 6-4
5 Jaysean Paige 6-2
3 Juwan Staten 6-1
34 Kaleb Wesson 6-10
A bit height-challenged last year, and facing a last-minute roster shuffle, the 2022 version of the roster has a much better selection of players with size and rebounding ability upon which to call. Best Virginia will be a bit thin at guard, with Morris, Paige and Staten called upon to handle the ball on the perimeter, but the swing abilities of Morris and Haley will help fill that gap.
Best Virginia will also see another familiar face on the bench, as Jevon Carter will join head coach James Long and assistant Dave Tallman as an assistant coach.
Teams joining Best Virginia in the West Virginia regional of the TBT include:
Herd That (Marshall Alumni)
Founding Fathers (James Madison Alumni)
Bucketneers (East Tennessee State Alumni)
War Ready (Auburn Alumni)
Woco Showtime (Wofford Alumni)
Best Virginia defeated Woco Showtime 70-67 in the opening round of the 2021 TBT. Bracket pairings will be announced on Wednesday.
