Hurricane Katrina forced the 2006 Sugar Bowl to be moved from its usual New Orleans home to the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. So, it was basically a home field for the No. 8 Georgia Bulldogs when Rich Rodriguez brought his young No. 11 Mountaineers to town for a bowl showdown. WVU was a prohibitive underdog, but its freshman backfield of Pat White and Steve Slaton didn’t know they we’re supposed to win. West Virginia jumped out to an amazing 31-14 lead in the first, but had to hold on tight down the stretch to leave ATL with a 38-35 victory.
