Four Mountaineers Earn Academic Honors
Four Mountaineer men’s basketball players earned spots on the 2019 academic all-Big 12 teams.
Juniors Chase Harler and Lamont West each were members of the first team, while fellow juniors Beetle Bolden and Logan Routt were both on the second team.
To earn a spot on the first team, a player has to have a GPA of 3.20 or higher. A second-team member has to have a GPA of 3.00-3.19. To qualify, student-athletes must have a 3.0 or better either cumulatively or in the two previous semesters and also must have participated in at least 20 or their team’s contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence.
This is the third straight year that Bolden has earned a spot on the Big 12’s all-academic team.
There were 34 men’s basketball players from around the Big 12 who were on one of the two teams this year. Texas Tech had the most with seven, while Oklahoma followed with six. Kansas and WVU were next on the list with four each.
