Holgorsen Sees Battle of Execution At Texas
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia head coach Dana Holgorsen doesn’t see any surprises coming from Texas in terms of schemes or new tactics when the Mountaineers head to Austin for a Top 15 showdown with the Longhorns. From his perspective, they don’t need any.
Holgorsen knows that the challenge will be in execution on the field, and in outplaying UT’s talented troops. From another corps of tall wide receivers to a phalanx of running backs, West Virginia’s defense will face its most balanced challenge of the year.
Also included were words of praise for Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger, who Holgorsen noted “is coming into his own”.
“Things start with their quarterback. He’s a fantastic football player. He got a lot of valuable experience last year. He’s heavily involved in their run game. They’ve built their offensive around him. It’s no different from what (Texas head coach Tom) Herman did at Houston and Ohio State.”
