Neal Brown Enjoys His First Top 20 Victory With the Mountaineers
MANHATTAN, KANSAS – Suffering through a five-game losing streak, Neal Brown’s Mountaineer football team needed a win, any win.
But Saturday’s 24-20 victory at Kansas State was just a little sweeter because it came over a top 25 opponents, as the Wildcats (6-4/3-4) entered the contest ranked No. 24 in the country.
“This is a huge win,” said Brown. “It felt like it was a long time coming; we’ve kind of been knocking on the door.
“I told our staff earlier in the week that I really felt like we’d be in the position to win a game or win more than one game that we shouldn’t have,” added Brown, as his club improved to 4-6. “We came in here and won against the No. 24 team in the country that beat Oklahoma on this field. It’s big for our players, and I’m proud of our guys.”
