Neal Brown Sets High Bar With Troy Departure
If someone in Hollywood ever remakes the seminal high school football flick “All the Right Moves” and twists it with a college bent, then they already have a title star in Neal Brown.
Rather than ducking out his job without a word to players or staff, Brown made sure to do both. He attended a staff meeting with his coaches, then talked to fans at halftime of a Troy basketball game on Saturday.
This wasn’t just a one-off thing, either. Discussions with those that know Brown, and have covered him at Troy, reveal that he interacts this way with just about everyone in the same manner. A quick perusal of his Twitter timeline shows many examples.
Enjoyed getting a chance to Judge some really impressive art work! Our Greek organizations are some of our biggest supporters – I love having the chance to return the favor! The fraternities and sororities at Troy are home to some talented young people – Good Job! #WeFightpic.twitter.com/iUZ2otfOSK
There’s also some fun stuff from Brown, too, showing his lighter side:
Had to take a pic so when I tell the story today at Trojan Tour there will be proof. This horse is taking complete ownership of his situation! pic.twitter.com/tlqADcNZ2v

Brown was involved in the community and university life in a real way at Troy, and while the demands on his time will grow at WVU, it looks as if his values and beliefs will continue to drive his actions. He’s set a high bar at Troy, and Mountaineer fans have certainly been embracing what they have seen so far.
