New Rifle Range Opening Vistas at WVU
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia is off to a good start with its new Bill McKenzie Rifle Range. The Mountaineers came out on top of the smallbore portion of its match against Kentucky on Sunday, and enjoyed a good turnout in the WVU Shell Building. The new range, with 20 positions, allowed the entire smallbore competition to be conducted at once, rather than in multiple relays, which shortened the length of the match.
Director of athletics Shane Lyons was on hand to watch the match, and provided his thoughts on the benefits of the new range and the opportunities it has afforded WVU and the program. WVU will host the GARC championships in two weeks, and the NCAA national championships in 2019.
