Oklahoma State Stuns West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, W.Va.–Tied at 83-83 with a minute to play, the Mountaineers needed a bucket and a stop for a win over Oklahoma State.

It got the bucket from Jevon Carter, but then the Cowboys corralled an offensive rebound on their end after a miss, pitched it out to Lindy Water in the corner, who splashed a three for an 86-85 OSU lead. Beetle Bolden’s miss on WVU’s subsequent possession led to an OSU’s run out dunk at the buzzer that punctuated the visitor’s 88-85 victory.

Carter finished with a career-high 33 points. Esa Ahmad added 16, but it wasn’t enough to outscore the Cowboys , who had five players in double figures, led by Cameron McGriff’s 20. With the win, Oklahoma State improved to 15-10 overall and 5-7 in the Big 12. WVU dropped to 18-7 overall and 7-5 in the league.

It was just the fifth loss for WVU in 70 games under Bob Huggins where the Mountaineers shot 50 percent or better from the field.

West Virginia hosts TCU Monday at 9 .m.

Cartter 31, Ahmad 16
