Poll: Who Would You Like To See As WVU’s Next Football Coach? < !–[if lte IE 8]>

WoW….. Support for Brown surprises me.

    #78762

    Fickell

I’d go with the guy that is the best recruiter and can bring the best recruiters as his assistants. It’s all about the Jimmies and Joes on the field.

I would like Jay Norvell from Nevada. Coached on both the Texas and Oklahoma staffs and turned Nevada into a bowl winner in 2 short years. They also have some familiar faces on the staff 3-3-5 as in Jeff Casteel.

    Only three choices?

Lyons would save plane fare by hiring Gibby. Just go down the street and pick him up.

I will support the man that Lyon chooses, as I always do.

Sporting News ranks top college football coaches for 2018 season.

WVU lost Dana Holgorsen, who is #31.

    Possible replacements are Neal Brown, #59; Luke Fickell, #100;

Highest ranked Big 12 coach is TCU’s Gary Patterson, #8. Mike Gundy, Oklahoma State, is #15. Lincoln Riley, Oklahoma, #16. Bill Snyder, Kansas State, #20. Tom Herman, Texas, #22.

Then Dana at #31, despite all the attacks on him on the WVU message boards. Maybe they didn’t know how lucky they were to have Dana.

6 of top 31 coaches in America in Big 12. That says a lot about how tough it is to win in the Big 12.

#59 or #100 would have their work cut out for them.

Dana is gone. Forget about him. The King is dead. Long live the King!

    #78875

Dana is gone but he is #31 among all the coaches in America.

So if WVU gets a coach who is NOT top 30 then we have traded down. Indisputable.

Again, I will support Shane Lyons’ coach as I always support any coach or player in WVU blue and gold.

What ranking are you referring to?

I Believe Neal Brown is the best choice.

I”m happy with choice of Brown. If he wins the Big 12 title I’ll be delirious over the choice.

I voted for Fickell but feel the Brown was the best choice for the Mountaineers.

Same here. Voted for Fickell. Thought that Brown was somewhat of a stretch because of the team and conference.
But many times in my career I hired or promoted what my peers and superiors thought was a stretch for the job and in every case those “stretches” made me look like a genius.

You’re looking at the rankings BEFORE the ’18 season. He was #44 going into the ’17 season and moved up for the next year. Now that he grossly under performed in ’18 let’s see where he lands. I would bet that he EASILY falls out of the top 50.

Now, Fickell and Brown both had GREAT seasons with double digit W’s. And I’d put dollars to donuts that both would move up the listings considerably.
