Teays Valley Christian Guard Commits To WVU

Josiah Davis

West Virginia has received a basketball verbal commitment in the class of 2022 from Josiah Davis of Teays Valley Christian School. The announcement was made and first reported by the MetroNews Statewide Sportsline.

A native of Kitchener, Ontario, Davis came to Teays Valley in July of 2019. He had an offer from Stetson in addition to WVU. He was a member of Nike’s UPlay club team as well as holding a spot on Canada’s Under 16 national team. He is a junior on this year’s Teays Valley squad, and in his second year with the Lions.

“Throughout the last couple of weeks I have been talking to my parents, my mentors and my coaches,” Davis said on the program. “We went through the checkboxes for all the decisions where I felt right and I feel best, and I came to the decision that I will be attending West Virginia University.”

“One of my main boxes was academics. If there are no academics, there is no basketball,” he said said of his reasons for choosing WVU. “Another one was the play style. I think it really fits me best. And there’s defense, I really want to sit down and play defense, and I feel like that is where my game is. I love to play defense and be energetic on the defensive end.

Davis is the first commitment in WVU’s class of 2022. The Mountaineers have two guards — Kobe Johnson and Seth Wilson — committed in the class of 2021. He also reportedly had interest from Baylor, Purdue, Cincinnati and Virginia Tech.

PG with good size.  Teammate of 4* Isaac McKneely who committed to UVA and big man Jerome Beya who we have already offered.

Interesting that his highlights film would show almost every dribble drive with him dishing off to an open man.  Was I wrong in counting only one time that he took it all the way and that was on a run out.

P.S.  Great looking passes to guys in tight spots also.

P.S.S.  In his interview he talks about wanting to play D.  Holy Crap…… This is a kid made for Huggs.  Good handle in traffic, takes the body on the drive, dishes to the open man, plays D.
