TJ Ivy Commits To WVU
Tight end TJ Ivy had three Big Ten schools along with one Big 12 institution in his top four, but it was the latter that won out when he announced that West Virginia was his destination on Friday afternoon. Ivy had also listed Iowa, Indiana and Illinois as his top schools on May 18.
Ivy’s commitment emphasizes West Virginia’s future commitment to the tight end\big receiver position, as he is the second such potential player in WVU’s Class of 2018. He joins Mike O’Laughlin, who could also play wide receiver, in the group. Ivy and O’Laughlin could line up close to the line, but can also flank out to exploit size and strength mismatches against smaller defensive backs.
Ivy also had offers from Power Five schools Iowa State, Purdue, Rutgers, Syracuse and Oregon State as well as numerous other colleges, including Cincinnati.
