WATCH: WVU Preseason Football Camp Continues With Varying Drills
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia’s 2018 football team followed up a full contact tackling practice on Saturday with a thud session on Sunday, where hitting, but not tackling to the ground, is the theme. Still, there’s plenty of physicality, especially when the defense squared off for a series of one-on-ones and the tight ends hit the blocking sleds. Following is a look at the action for the WVU practice field on the Mountaineer Football Complex.
Every means, from physical to verbal, is used to try to pry or shock the ball free
As offensive coordinator Jake Spavital watches, quarterbacks work on avoiding the rush and keeping their eyes on the target downfield
The offensive line works on initial steps, keeping the feet out to maintain balance, then delivering an initial punch when reaching the target
Tight ends work on not only driving the blocking sled, but also on making the proper strides and maintaining balance to set up the block
