WVU Adds Former Ohio State Defensive Back To Recruiting Haul
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia added a junior college defensive back to its 2018 class on Thursday with the commit of Joshua Norwood.
A 5-foot-11, 185-pounder, Norwood played his freshman season at Ohio State before transferring to Northwest Mississippi Community College. The Valdosta, Ga. native redshirted his freshman season before playing in 11 games as a redshirt freshman, helping the Buckeyes to an 11-2 record and Fiesta Bowl berth while making eight tackles, one for loss, with a pass break-up.
Norwood was a three-year starter at Valdosta High, one of the more storied prep programs in history. Rated as a Top 50 corner by one recruiting service, Norwood was named first-team Georgia Sports Writers Association all-state as a senior. He made 44 tackles and tallied six interceptions and forced five fumbles that season.
Through five games at Northwest Mississippi Norwood has 21 tackles, 13 solo, with three pass break-ups. A class fo 2018 commit, Norwood will have two seasons of eligibility remaining. He plans to enroll in January. Norwood’s commitment gives the Mountaineers 18 commits for the class. he is one of two corners, along with Jayce Rogers, a 5-foot-9, 175-pounder also out of Valdosta High.
