WVU Adds Two More Signees To Class of 2020
West Virginia’s football program inked two more prospects to National Letters of Intent Wednesday.
The Mountaineers signed 18 recruits during the early commitment period back in December, and now has added running back A’varius Sparrow and bandit linebacker Eddie Watkins to the class of 2020. The pair signed their LOIs during the first day of the second commitment period, bringing West Virginia’s total scholarship count so far for this class to 20. The Mountaineers have 22 scholarships available for the class of 2020.
Feb. 5 was just the start of the eight-week spring signing period, so there is still time for WVU to add others to its class. Linebacker James Thomas (6-2, 215 lbs., Mitchell County, Ga.) had to postpone his signing on Wednesday when bad weather cancelled school in southern Georgia. He’s reportedly deciding between West Virginia, South Carolina and Tennessee and will apparently sign on Thursday.
The Mountaineers could look for transfers as well, but some of those may not be available until later in the spring or even into the summer.
Sparrow and Watkins are definitely in the fold, though, having signed binding National Letters of Intent.
