WVU Alumni Hoops Game Announces Participants
The fourth edition of the WVU Basketball Alumni Game, presented by John Flowers and his company J FLOW Entertainment, has announced a star-studded lineup of participants. The contest, which is scheduled for Saturday, June 16 at 7:00 p.m. at Fairmont State University’s Joe Retton Arena, provides both a trip down memory lane for Mountaineer fans, and as a fundraiser for a deserving charity.
“We had such a great time in Fairmont last year, it was a no-brainer to come back,” Flowers said in announcing the game earlier this year. “Every year we’ve gotten bigger and better, and the crowds have too.”
Players who are scheduled to participate include:
|Da'Sean Butler||Kevin Jones|
|Truck Bryant||Devin Williams|
|Nathan Adrian||Joe Mazzulla|
|Darryl Prue||Marcus Goree|
|Juwan Staten||Elijah Macon|
|Casey Mitchell||Brent Solheim|
|Herbie Brooks||Jarrod West|
|Tarik Phillip||Jaysean Paige|
|Chris Moss||Brandon Watkins|
|Tom Beynon||Jon Curran|
|Rob Summers||Tyron Hughes|
|Teyvon Myers||John Flowers|
The players will be split into two teams, and will be coached by former Mountaineers Lowes Moore and David Allara.
This year’s game benefits the Give A Hoop Foundation, which has the mission of making a difference in the lives of children by providing positive role models, mentoring and giving back to those in need. It provides affordable athletic and other programming based on need and to make contributions in the community that benefit children. Founded by Da’Sean Butler, the Foundation has provided supplies for flood relief and both school and recreational items for children in North Central West Virginia.
Through the first three years of the game, more than $20,000 in charitable aid has been raised, and Flowers hopes to increase that total dramatically via this year’s contest. Previous game charities include the Norma Mae Huggins Cancer Research Endowment Fund, Conquer Chiari and WVU Medicine Children’s.
