WVU Athletics Communications Earns Nation’s Best 19 Awards


The West Virginia University Athletics Communications Office was honored last week in Orlando, Florida, at the 2019 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Workshop, capturing 19 awards for Excellence in Publications and Digital Design, including 13 best in the nation awards.

The 19 publications and digital design awards WVU received from CoSIDA are the most earned among Division I schools. Oklahoma finished second with 11 awards, followed by Kansas State (5), Missouri State (5), Oral Roberts (5) and Notre Dame (4).

Earning best in the nation awards for media guides were men’s basketball, women’s basketball, gymnastics, football, rifle, women’s soccer and track & field.

For best covers, West Virginia earned first place for its football game program cover (Oct. 6/David Sills V), the rifle guide cover, the women’s soccer guide cover and the track & field guide cover.

West Virginia swept the top-three spots in the winter/spring posters category with gymnastics, wrestling and baseball finishing first, second and third, respectively. WVU took top honors in game notes for fall sports for its football game notes.

Earning second in the nation awards were the men’s basketball game program, the baseball guide, the wrestling guide and the volleyball poster (fall posters).
