MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – As chants of “SEC, SEC” wafted down from the Mountaineer Field crowd, West Virginia prevailed over Texas, 31-23, Saturday afternoon.

With the win, WVU improved to 5-6 and can obtain bowl eligibility with a victory at Kansas in its regular-season finale next Saturday night.

The Longhorns, who are leaving the Big 12 for the SEC at a still-unannounced point in the next few years, fell to 4-7 on the 2021 campaign and despite having one more regular-season game left against Kansas State, the ‘Horns will not get to the .500 mark needed to qualify for the postseason.

    Most fans have been critical of Doege throughout this year.  According to too many Doege is what’s wrong with this team.  As, I’ve been disagreeing, I still disagree.  I’ve read posts that they won’t go to a Mountaineer game next year if Doege returns.

    I believe that WVU does not have a QB behind Doege that the coach would feel comfortable leading the team at the beginning of next year and will probably go to the portal to get some upper class leadership.

    I realize that Doege is not a perfect QB, but I fully believe that he'[s better for the Mountaineers than any QB they could get in the portal.  And, I think that he continues to improve as a QB.

    So, fire away, although I doubt that he returns due to all the flack directed at him this year, I hope that he does return.

    With perhaps the exception of the MD game, he has not performed at a level that deserves the level of criticism leveled at him by too many.

    good win…finish strong…indeed….same uniforms…great blocks by left guard and center(plays I saw)…Doege is good on quicker throws…timing throws….long ball…this team just does not need to throw those…has a running game…use that the most….simple…right …
