WVU Women’s Soccer Adds Recruit From English U-19 National Team
West Virginia University women’s soccer coach Nikki Izzo-Brown announced today that forward Isabella “Issy” Sibley will join the Mountaineers this fall.
A native of Uxbridge, England, Sibley brings to Morgantown three years’ experience with the England Youth National Teams.
“The biggest thing that sticks out about Issy is her extensive international playing experience,” Izzo-Brown said. “She is a versatile player and possesses a high-work rate. I fully expect her to arrive in Morgantown wanting to continue our program’s success and drive to win championships. Issy is a great fit for our team.”
A member of the England U-19 Women’s National Team alongside current Mountaineer freshmen Lois Joel and Grace Smith, Sibley recently competed at the La Manga Tournament in March. She also traveled with the team to Portugal in January for a trio of friendlies against Norway, the Republic of Ireland and Holland. Additionally, she helped the U-19 team top its group in the Elite Round of the 2017 European Qualifiers and also qualify for the 2018 France World Cup.
In 2016, Sibley and the England U-17 Women’s National Team topped its group for the Elite Round of European Qualifiers in Estonia.
A member of the Chelsea Ladies U-20 Team, Sibley helped the squad reach the 2018 Football Association Women’s Challenge Cup semifinals before losing, 2-0, to Manchester City. Prior to the defeat, the team claimed the 2017 Girls’ Development Cup.
Also an avid runner, Sibley attended Vyners School. The daughter of Jason and Frances Sibley, she has one sister.
